Training Specialist
SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION:
The Employment Training Specialist under the supervision of the Program Manager and in cooperation with the Job Developer provides systematic on the job training to consumers while monitoring and addressing employer relations and integration at the worksite. The several phases of site training that will be addressed include but are not limited to intake assessment, job orientation, task analysis, and initial training and skill acquisition of consumers in competitive employment placements.
The Employment Training Specialist must assume primary responsibility for assuring that the worker is adequately trained and supported to fulfill the needs and expectations of the employer. The Employment Training Specialist will demonstrate flexibility as to scheduling of hours and may on occasion be required to work evenings and or weekends as consumer work schedules dictate. The Employment Training Specialist is expected to complete assigned job duties and prioritized goals within a thirty-seven and one half (37.5) hour workweek although some overtime may be incurred depending upon consumer work schedules

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates placement with the Job Developer to ensure an appropriate job match.

When job site training is to take place the ETS will go to the job site in advance to learn the components of the job skills to be acquired. This may be done by actually performing the job or observing the job. |

Writes a job duty analysis or task analysis reflecting individual job modifications, job descriptions, reasonable accommodations and the need for assistive technologies. |
|
* |
Provides job coaching using a direct systematic training strategy, using a task analysis, modeling, cueing and natural supports and reinforces to attain job skills. |
|
* |
Maintains data to determine acceptable levels of performance and to initiate fading. Completes necessary paperwork regarding the consumer’s progress and interactions with the supervisor and co-workers. |

Attends ORS IVSP progress report meetings and DDS consumer information meetings. |

* |
Provides instruction in transportation training and community access skills. |
|
* |
Assist the consumer to make a smooth transition between job training and follow along by making arrangements for fading. Completes the fading form and is prepared to present training documentation in the form of task analysis and daily contact records. |

Completes an evaluation form with the employer to interpret the progress of the consumer and to obtain employer feedback. Returns all completed job evaluations to the Job Developer. |

Responds to incident reports and acts as an advocate of the employer and employee to ensure job site stabilization and job site integration utilizing natural supports when possible. Supplemental training or retraining of job duties may be required in order to maintain performance standards or learn new job skills. |

Completes all necessary satisfaction surveys with consumers and other stakeholders on a quarterly basis or as directed by Program Manager. |
High School Diploma, GED, skills and knowledge acquired through completion of elementary education preferred or successful completion of TABE.
One-year experience in the provision of services to individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
